Once you have the originating IP, there are a couple of tools you can use to determine if that IP is one you're likely to care about.
WhoIS (http://whois.domaintools.com or http://www.dnsstuff.com) will show which ISP the address is registered to. Traceroute will plot the path across the internet to that IP.
Using these tools you can quickly find if the person sending that e-mail is located nearby or in Tanzania.
